As we were praying about this year’s youth retreat we were made freshly aware of what Paul writes in the letter to the church at Ephesus. He reminds them that all were dead in trespasses and sins, disobedient, following the course of this world, carrying out every wicked desire, in a state of hostility to God, and justly deserving of wrath, “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—” (Ephesians 2:4–5). Whether it be on social media, at school, or even at home, as we look out among our youth it’s not hard to see the devastating affects of sin. Whether they are currently living out their lives in hostility to God or striving to live faithfully in a world where they are surrounded by hostility to God, our hope is in the radically redeeming work of Christ Jesus. It’s with this hope of the gospel in view that we are excited to tell you that the theme of this year’s regional youth retreat is “Radical Redemption - Purchased by Christ, to Live A New Life.” The retreat will once again be hosted at Lifegate Church in Seguin and will be held on June 22-24.
